Choose your battles

We live in a world where some people try to get to the top by riding on others and making people look small so that they can look big in their own eyes. They try to destroy people’s character, pull them down by malicious words and peddle false rumor against them. Smearing innocent people is one of the devil’s strategies of humiliating good spirited people.

In the bible, some were challenged and insulted for sins they did not commit. David was accused of being responsible for King Saul’s predicaments, the man he faithfully served. “And when King David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came. And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of King David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left. And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial: The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man”. 2 Samuel 16:5-8. Interestingly, David did not respond to Shimei’s accusations.

Every true believer in Christ is engaged in spiritual warfare daily against the devil and his cohorts whether you know it or not. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” Ephesians 6:12. However, we have to choose what and how we respond to challenges and accusations along the way.

Paul was called a murderer in Malta. Paul shook off the viper and moved on. Shake off everything trying to intimidate you. “Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, "This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live. But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects” Acts 28:3-5. This man must be a murderer they said about him. Do not let circumstances define and dictate who you are. Time and again the enemy will throw stuff at you to bring you down and paint you black, take shelter under the everlasting arms of the father, THE GOD OF JUSTICE. When Jesus was accussed of wrong doing before Pilate, He was silent. "When He was accused by the chief priests and the elders, He gave no answer. Then Pilate asked him, 'Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?' But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor" Matthew 27:12-14. You may want to keep quiet when you are falsely accused and let God speak for you.

It is not wise to listen to they said, she/he said. Life is too precious to spend on inconsequential and irrelevant issues. "CHOOSE TO MAJOR IN MAJORS NOT MINORS" You are like those you answer. To reach your goals in life you have to focus on your priorities and things relevant to your goals and matters with eternal values.
